STEM research in the Key Stage 3 curriculum

How can the university support the development of computing curricula for KS3? How does this link to wider STEM careers? The following project provides two potential engagements between Newcastle University researchers and KS3 pupils, as part of the computing curriculum.

These engagements will explore how computing underpins work either in i) emerging prosthetics research from the Intelligent Sensing Lab, and ii) chemical engineering hardware and software design by Process Intensification Group.

We are looking for schools who would be interested in trialling these engagements in the Summer Term 2020, and contribute to ongoing research around STEM school engagement. Participating schools would have access to a pool of KS3 computing resources, loanable access to physical computing devices and entry-level making equipment, as well as visits from researchers from Newcastle University.
