VOLUNTEERING FOR HADRIAN'S WALL: understanding the motivations behind volunteer participation in Hadrian's Wall archaeological heritage.

This questionnaire is one of the tools deployed in a PhD research project related to volunteers' motivations and experiences when volunteering on Hadrian's Wall. The questionnaire is composed by two sets of questions that will help us further our understanding of your experience as a volunteer on Hadrian's Wall. This is an anonymous survey in which information is associated with a participant number and NOT your name. We hope that anonymity will encourage you to be completely honest.

The first set of questions is anagraphic: this means information like the gender you identify with, your age, your employment status. The information you provide will help us constructing a model of volunteer motivations on Hadrian's Wall for your age bracket, gender, employment status and place of origin.

The second set of questions is about the reasons you volunteer. In this survey we present you with 30 statements on why people volunteer, in general. We would like you to indicate how important each reason is for you, specifically when volunteering on Hadrian's Wall. This is an anonymous survey in which information is associated with a participant number and NOT your name. We hope that anonymity will encourage you to be completely honest.

Filling in this questionnaire should not take you longer than 5 minutes and will contribute towards a better understanding of the volunteering phenomenon on Hadrian's Wall, of which you are an important part. Thanks for taking the time to help.
